Atlanta, Georgia - Attractions

I figured it would only be fitting for me to start in my hometown. Each town will include Attractions, Places to Eat (for those coming to town) and Area Natural Parks.

There are many sights to see in Atlanta.

Stone Mountain has more to offer than the beautiful carving and nightly laser light show. There are several events and festivals hosted here annually.

Fox Theater or more famously known as the Fabulous Fox! There is always a great show to see at the Fox. Did you know they offer A Dinner and A Show?

Six Flags Over Georgia & Whitewater these are pretty self-explanatory.

Center for Puppetry Arts not only offers performances but a museum, workshops and tours.

Imagine-It Children's Museum offers FREE admission on the 2nd Tuesday of each month through December 31, 2009. This is FREE for all ages and sponsored by Target. Tickets are available at the Museum beginning at 1 p.m. and are first-come, first-served until capacity has been reached. Reservations are not accepted.

Fernbank Science Center which includes a Planetarium show. (which I didn't even know about until a few months ago, when a friend took her kids to see it!)

Centennial Olympic Park is great fun in the summer and winter. In the summer, the fountains are flowing and great splashing for the kids. Just make sure you have a change of clothes! In the winter, they set up an ice skating rink. Dress warm because it is outdoors, but so much fun!

Atlanta can be very hot in the summer. We have a saying here, "if you don't like the weather, wait a minute." We say that because our weather changes fairly quickly. It will be nice and sunny one minute and then pouring down rain the next. So always be prepared when you are out and about with an umbrella or rain, especially in Spring and Summer.

Have Fun!

  1. This info. is soooo awesome! My family and I are hoping to drive to Atlanta from Charlotte, NC sometime this coming summer. We know that we at least want to see the CNN studio and the aquarium. There's so much more for me to check out now.

    Thanks!
